STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook built an 11-point lead with 2:43 to go in the fourth quarter and held on for a 65-59 win as Vermont pushed the preseason favorite in America East Wednesday night at Island Federal Arena. With the win, the Seawolves improved to 3-1 in league play while the Catamounts fell to 1-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a quick start from Stony Brook the Catamounts used a 9-2 run, with four points from Anna Olson to build an 13-9 lead with 3:50 to go in the first quarter. Aryana Dizon hit two free throws after time expired in the opening frame to give UVM a 20-18 advantage.
- Over 2:16 in the second quarter the Seawolves used a 7-0 run to claim a 30-25 advantage with 1:29 left in the half. Josie Larkins converted a layup with 22 seconds to go and then Olson hit two free throws after an offensive foul in the last second of the half to make it 30-29 after 20 minutes.
- Larkins scored seven for the Catamounts in the first 1:44 of the third quarter giving UVM a 36-32 advantage. The third quarter would see three ties before Anastasia Warren hit a buzzer beater from downtown giving the Seawolves a five-point lead heading to the fourth quarter.
- A 10-2 Stony Brook run over 3:13 helped the Seawolves stake an 11-point edge with 2:43 to go. Delaney Richason and Catherine Gilwee hit back-to-back three-pointers on consecutive possessions to quickly get UVM back in the game.
- Over 38 seconds Emma Utterback scored five points for UVM to cut the lead down to two with 33 seconds to go. With the game on the line the nation's fourth-best free throw shooting team closed out the contest with six made free throws.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- First year guard Catherine Gilwee set a new career-high with 15 points for the Catamounts Wednesday. Gilwee also matched a career-high with three steals tonight. Tonight, was also the first time the Shelburne native has been the Catamounts leading scorer.
- Classmate Aryana Dizon matched her career-high with four points as well.
- Bella Vito was the Catamounts leading rebounder Wednesday, she grabbed a career-high six boards in just 14 minutes of game action.
- Josie Larkins scored 12 points Wednesday night, she is now just four shy of 1,000 in her Catamount career.
