BURLINGTON, Vt. – Merrimack scored two goals 11 minutes apart in the second half to come from behind and defeat Vermont 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Virtue Field in the final TD Bank Classic game for both teams. The Warriors earned their first Division I win improving their overall record to 1-2-0 while the Catamounts fell to 2-2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Merrimack goaltender Erin Fulton made five saves in the first half as the Catamounts pressed for the opening goal. Vermont outshot the Warriors 8-2 in the first frame.
- In the 49th minute the Catamounts opened the scoring off a throw in. Alyssa Oviedo cut towards the end line and centered a feed into the box. Frances O'Donnell turned, gathered herself and fired a shot to the far post for her first career goal.
- In the 57th minute Oviedo almost doubled the Catamounts lead with a shot off the crossbar from ten yards out.
- The Warriors equalized in the 69th minute. Molly Murnane forced a turnover in midfield and carried deep into the Vermont territory before feeding a pass to Izzy Murnane. Murnane had a good first touch and placed a shot just past a diving Lydia Kessel to tie things at one apiece.
- With 10:22 left in the second half Merrimack pulled ahead on an opportunistic chance in the box. Bridget Austin headed a chance towards goal and as Kessel went to gather the ball she collided with a Vermont defender. Harty pounced on the opportunity and slotted it in the net for her first career goal.
NOTES
- Christina Barry and Ella Bankert were named to the 2019 TD Bank Classic All-Tournament Team.
- Vermont outshot the Warriors 21-8, Merrimack's Megan Langlois and Fulton combined to make nine saves in the game.
