FIGHTING FOR PLAYOFF POSITION
The Catamounts enter Saturday's action tied for fifth place in America East at 7-8 with Binghamton. In order to clinch the five-seed in the America East playoffs Vermont needs a win over Stony Brook and a Binghamton loss to Maine Saturday. Binghamton holds the tiebreaker over Vermont (1-1 season series) due to their 73-62 win over second place Hartford. If the Catamounts finish fifth they will travel to face UAlbany in the quarterfinals. If Vermont fails to pass Binghamton, which is automatic without a win Saturday, they will travel again to face Stony Brook in the quarterfinals. Regardless of location Vermont's quarterfinal matchup will be Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

FIRST YEAR SUCCESS WITH COACH KRESGE
The Catamounts are in the midst of their first 11-win season & first with seven conference wins since the 09-10 campaign. With 11 wins Coach Kresge is enjoying the best debut season for a new head coach at UVM since Sharon Dawley won 14 in 2003-04.

CRYMBLE LEADING THE WAY
Junior forward Hanna Crymble leads the Catamounts in scoring with 14.0 PPG. She is fifth in America East in scoring. She has been Vermont's leading scorer in 16 of the Catamounts 27 games. She is shooting 48.8% from the field this season which is the second-best mark in America East. She is also shooting 87.9% from the free throw line, which is the best mark in the league. Her percentage from the charity stripe is tied for the 18th best mark in Division I.

WRIGHT BLOCK PARTY
Candice Wright is Vermont's all-time block leader with 219 career blocks. She has 78 blocks this season which is tied for the third most in the NCAA. She is averaging 2.88 blocks per game, twice this season she has had eight blocks in a single game. By herself this season Candice has more blocks than four America East teams. With 219 career blocks Wright is fourth all-time in America East history. With two more blocks she will move into third place.

SCOUTING STONY BROOK
The Seawolves are in the midst of their third 20-win campaign in their Division I history and first since 2013-14. Stony Brook has won seven of their last nine games, dropping contests to Maine and Hartford who top the America East standings. Despite trailing by 13 in the second quarter Wednesday night at UMBC the Seawolves stormed back to beat the Retrievers by 11.

Senior guard Shania Johnson leads the Seawolves averaging 16.9 points, 7.6 assists and 3.3 three-point field goals per game. On Wednesday night she hit four three-point field goals to become Stony Brook's all-time career leader with 184 made triples. Remarkably she has passed that mark in just two seasons in the red and blue. Johnson did not play in the first matchup against the Catamounts this season.

The Seawolves are an impressive 11-3 at home this season, including a perfect 7-0 mark in non-conference action. In the Seawolves 11 home wins their average margin of victory is 20.0 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY
The Catamounts lead the all-time series 19-17 against the Seawolves, although Stony Brook has won the last three meetings in the series. Vermont is 5-5 in its last ten games at Stony Brook.
