CRYMBLE KEEPS CLIMBING
With 28 points Sunday afternoon
Hanna Crymble moved into ninth place all-time at Vermont with 1,398 points. She passed Missy Kelsen (1988-92) who finished her career with 1,377. She needs 37 points to pass Jen Niebling (1989-93) for eighth place. She was one point away from her fifth 30-point game of her career, which would have put her tied for fourth in career 30-point games.
SCOUTING THE CADETS
The Cadets roll in under 11th year head coach Mark Zacher. They have started their Division III campaign 2-3, and are playing their third straight road game without leaving the state of Vermont. Their previous two games were against NVU-Johnson and NVU-Lyndon.
Norwich's offense is paced by junior Riley Bennett who averages 15.4 points-per-game and is shooting 45% from downtown. Fellow Junior Kailynne Frederick has gotten to the line 25 times in five games and leads the team on the glass with 7.6 rebounds-per-game. Norwich is looking to bounce back after an 8-16 season last year where underclassmen saw most of the playing time. Seven of their 16 losses were by single-digit point deficits.
SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday's meeting is the third ever between the Catamounts and Cadets, and the third consecutive meeting since 2017. Vermont has handedly won each of the first two meetings by a combined score of 153-59. The series began with a 75-31 win in Vermont's 2017 home opener. Last year's 78-28 Vermont win was highlighted by five different Catamounts reaching double figures. Current Catamounts
Hanna Crymble and
Sarah Wells were two of the five to find ten or more points.
CATHY INGLESE PATCHES
This season the Catamounts are wearing jersey patches to honor our former Head Coach Cathy Inglese. Inglese was the head coach at Vermont for seven seasons, from 1986 to 1993. She led UVM to unprecedented success with its first two conference titles, in 1992 and 1993, and its first two trips to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
These patches will be worn at home and on the road this season to honor the memory of Coach Inglese who tragically passed away this summer. Cathy was also the head coach at Rhode Island from 2009-2014.
Rise To The Top is the presenting sponsor of the 2019-20 women's basketball season.
