COACH'S QUOTE
"Proud of the way we played against a very tough Navy," said head coach Alisa Kresge. "We were able to see improvements from last game to this game. It was a great team win. We'll get back to work tomorrow and get ready for a very good Rhode Island team."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Charlotte, Vermont native Laurel Jaunich started the scoring for the Midshipmen quickly putting up five points as Navy established an early 8-2 advantage. The Catamounts would close the opening frame on a 12-4 run highlighted by two three-pointers from junior guard and America East Player of the Week Josie Larkins.
  • In the second quarter Emma Utterback continued the Catamounts hot start from downtown with six points. Her second triple of the quarter pushed UVM's advantage to 12 at 34-22. Navy's Sophie Gatzounas hit a buzzer-beating three to end the half so UVM took a nine-point edge into the break, their largest halftime lead of the season.
  • Hanna Crymble scored the first four points of the second half for UVM as they pushed their advantage to 11 in the early stages of the third quarter. The Mids responded with an 9-0 run, Kolbi Green hit a three-pointer with 4:50 left in the third quarter to make it 38-36 Vermont and force a Catamounts timeout. Delaney Richason hit a three-pointer with 1:39 left to give UVM a 47-42 edge heading to the final frame.
  • Just nine seconds into the quarter Rose Caverly converted a three-point play from the free throw line to extend the UVM advantage to eight. With 5:31 to play Richason banked-in a three-pointer as the shot clock expired to give UVM a 12-point edge.
  • The Midshipmen were able to cut the UVM lead to eight in the closing minutes but that was as close as they'd come as Vermont won its second straight home contest.
