BURLINGTON, Vt. – Marist scored once in each half for a 2-0 win over Vermont in the TD Bank Classic finale on Sunday afternoon. The Catamounts drop to 1-2-1 on the year while the Red Foxes grab their first win of the season at 1-1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Marist took the lead in the 32nd minute when Keri Bradley dribbled into the left side of the box and bent the go-ahead score inside of the far post.

• The Red Foxes had a chance to pad their lead in the 57th minute with a penalty kick. Alex Svensson stepped up and fired a low shot, but UVM keeper Lydia Kessel (2 saves) made a diving kick save. On the rebound, Svennson tried again but Kessel punched away the scoring threat.
• In the 70th minute, the Catamounts tried to find the equalizer in the 70th minute but Payton Humphrey had her attempt denied by the crossbar.
• With 1:07 remaining in regulation, Marist added an insurance goal from Christiana Davies. Bradley sent a long feed into the box for Davies who chipped the second goal of the afternoon into the top left corner of the net.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
The Catamounts had two of their own make the TD Bank Classic All-Tournament Team – Brooke Jenkins and Angie Salvi. St. Mary's was awarded as the tournament champion after topping Vermont on Friday and Maine in the first match of Sunday's doubleheader. SMC's Jaylen Crim was named the TD Bank Classic's Most Valuable Player.
 
WHO'S NEXT
Vermont will head out west for the Montana Invitational next weekend. The Cats will face host Montana on Friday (Aug. 31) at 7 p.m. followed by Idaho on Sunday (Sept. 2) at 12 p.m. The tournament will be streamed in its entirety on Big Sky TV.
