FINAL SCORE: St. Mary's 3, Vermont 2 (2OT)
BURLINGTON, Vt. – St. Mary's Jordyn Cunningham scored with 2:06 left on the clock in double overtime and handed Vermont a 3-2 double overtime setback in the TD Bank Classic on Friday evening. UVM falls to 0-1-1 while St. Mary's improves to 1-2-0.

"Tonight was a quality college soccer game with a great back-and-forth effort by both teams," head coach Kristi Huizenga said. "Our goals by Brooke and Angie were outstanding finishes on good build-ups. To concede the game winner with two minutes left in double overtime is a tough way to end, but credit to St. Mary's for finishing its chance. We will bounce back and look forward to Sunday's game."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Angie Salvi opened the scoring attack in the third minute with her first goal of the year. Alex West played a ball into box to Brooke Jenkins, who held off a Gael defender and tapped a pass back to Salvi. The sophomore ripped a shot through traffic and past a diving Maleah Milner (7 saves).
• In the 30th minute, St. Mary's answered when Kaitlin Groleau and Jaylen Crim teamed up. Crim dribbled into the right side of the box and lined a low cross to the far end of the box where Groleau went top shelf with a one-timer.
• The Gaels took their first lead of the game in the 61st minute after cashing in with a corner kick. Malia Allison bent a line drive toward the far post and Maya Alcantara knocked in the go-ahead score under the crossbar with a header.
• UVM countered in the 66th minute with an equalizer from Jenkins. Maddie Masengarb lofted a ball into the box, then Jenkins tracked down the loose ball and chipped the tying score into the right side of the net over a charging Milner.
• In double overtime, Cunningham ended the game with a strike from 20 yards out. After she trapped a clear, she dribbled to her right then rifled the walk-off score inside of the near post.

Vermont will host Marist in the final match of the TD Bank Classic on Sunday (Aug. 26).
