CATAMOUNTS RECAP
UVM lost all three games of the season's final road trip, with the final defeat coming at Hartford on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 17). The Hawks beat the Catamounts 91-52, the largest margin of defeat for UVM this year.
Â
Hartford featured four players with double-figures in the scoring column. Lindsey Abed led the way for the Hawks, going 8-10 from behind the three-point line.
Â
Josie Larkins and
Cassidy Derda each scored 14 points for Vermont. Both players went 4-8 from downtown. For Larkins, her 14 points tied a career set against Norwich on Nov. 15.
Â
For the second consecutive game,
Hanna Crymble scored eight points. She has still registered double-figures in 22 of the 27 games that she has played in during her sophomore year. Â
Â
As a unit, Vermont finished the contest at 33% from the field, 34% (11-32) from three-point territory and 75% (9-12) from the free throw line. UVM was out-rebounded 35-26.
 Â
SCOUTING MAINE
Interim Amy Vachon is in her first full season at the helm. She took over the reins last season, after Richard Barron stepped aside due to health complications. Vachon was the interim head coach for the last 11 games of 2016-17. Since she took over, the Black Bears have gone 29-16.
Â
This season, Maine is 18-9 overall, 7-7 on the road and 11-3 to begin America East play (tied for first in the conference with Albany).
Â
Six countries are represented on the Maine roster: United States of America, Canada (Julie Brosseau), Israel (Dor Saar), Spain (Blanca Millan), Germany (Kira Barra), and Sweden (Fanny Wadling).
Â
As a team, the Black Bears lead the conference in field goal percentage (41.7%), three-point percentage (33.4%) and assist/turnover ratio (1.04). Maine is second in the conference in scoring (64.9 PPG).
Â
INSIDE THE SERIES
Maine leads the all-time series 51-33. The Catamounts have played the Black Bears more than any other opponent in program history.
Â
This season, UVM lost in Maine 64-55 on Jan. 15.
Hanna Crymble scored 21 points while
Kristina White added 11 points. The Catamounts beat the Black Bears 55-52 in Burlington on Jan. 4, 2017.
 Â
HISTORY BEFORE OUR EYES
Candice Wright's five blocked shots against Rider on Dec. 1 placed her in sole possession for first all-time on Vermont's career blocks list. The junior broke Katie McNamara's '05 record of 102 blocked shots on her first rejection of the contest. Wright has 136 blocked shots during her career through the last game at UMass Lowell.
  Â
DIALING FROM LONG DISTANCE
After making two three-pointers at UMass Lowell, Smith maintains her rank of fourth all-time in program history with 183 career makes from long distance. She surpassed her former teammate, Kayla Burchill '15 (170) with four three-pointers at UMBCÂ on Jan. 6. Smith is closing in on third place, which is held by May Kotsopoulos '10 (187).
Â
Additionally, White sits sixth all-time in program history in three-point field goals after she surpassed Ashleigh Cuncic '07 (143) on Jan. 31 against Binghamton. The redshirt-senior co-captain has now made 148Â triples during her time in Burlington.Â
Â
As a team, Vermont is averaging just over six and a half three-point makes per game. Out of UVM's 1,439 field goal attempts through the first 27 games of the season, just under 44% have come from behind the three-point arc. Individually, the most proficient three-point shooting Catamounts have been Derda (33%), Crymble (33%) and
Hayley Robertson (32%).
