Postgame - Coach Kresge
COACH'S QUOTE
"Really game day is about our players going out there, having fun and playing hard," said head coach
Alisa Kresge. "I thought they did a nice job today compared to our closed scrimmage, there was a lot of nerves (then) so I'm glad we got those out of the way. Really I thought we did a nice job from the start of the game of just coming out and playing hard."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Candice Wright had six points in the first quarter helping Vermont get off to a fast start. The Catamounts hit three shots from behind the arc and led 18-10 after the opening frame.
- In the second quarter the Catamounts pulled away from the Purple Knights shooting 10-for-15 from the field, outscoring their crosstown rival by 13. Vermont converted all four of St. Michael's second quarter turnovers into points
- Offensively the third quarter was the Catamounts least effective of the afternoon but they were able to hold St. Michael's to just eight points and grew their advantage to 27.
- Both teams put up 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Catamounts cruised to their first victory under head coach Alisa Kresge.
