WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK

LARKINS AND WRIGHT LEADING THE WAY
Sophomore guard
Josie Larkins and senior forward
Candice Wright are tied for the team lead in scoring with 12.5 PPG. Wright led the Catamounts with 21 points, including 11 in the final 3:29 of game action, in Vermont's win over Rider.
KRESGE STARTING STRONG
With the win last Friday Interim Head Coach
Alisa Kresge became the first Catamount to win her coaching debut since Sharon Dawley in 2003.
PT FOR FRESHMAN POINT GUARD
Freshman guard
Rose Caverly has averaged 37.5 minutes a game this season. She is tied with Albany's Kyara Frames for the highest average in America East, they are tied for 48
th in that category nationally. Caverly is averaging six points, six rebounds and four assists a game through the Catamounts first two regular season contests.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
Vermont is one of only five teams in Division I women's basketball with seven or more true freshmen (Florida Atlantic, Oklahoma, SMU & Wichita State.) The Catamounts average age is 19.7, which is 13th youngest among the 349 Division I teams.
SCOUTING NORWICH
The Cadets are 0-2 this season after dropping games against Plattsburgh and New England College this week. Freshman Mary Casamassa leads the team in scoring with 17.5 PPG. She was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week after scoring 15 points and picking up 10 rebounds in her collegiate debut at Plattsburgh.
Last season the Cadets were 10-16 overall, and 7-9 in GNAC play. Last season Vermont hosted Norwich in the season-opener for the Cadets. The Catamounts prevailed 75-31 with five players scoring seven or more points including 14 from
Josie Larkins.
TROTTING OF THE TURKEYS
Last Saturday members of the women's basketball team participated in the fifth annual Trotting of the Turkeys benefitting the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf and Burlington Sunrise Rotary. The team was joined by Vermont men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and the spirit squads as they paraded donated turkeys down Church Street.
