COACH'S QUOTE
"It was an excellent team performance on the road tonight," head coach
Rob Dow said. "Our young guys stepped up and showed experience beyond their years, especially Morrison. Our clean sheet and composure in front of goal tonight will be critical as we move on to face Albany."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts reached the scoring column in the 20th minute with Geo Alves' eighth goal of the season. Morrison worked through two defenders next to the goal line, dished a pass in front of the net to Alves, who finished with a low strike into the bottom right corner of the net.
- The Bulldogs came close to tying the game two minutes later. From the right side of the box, Kyle Kenady fired a line drive towards the top left corner of the net but Aron Runarsson (2 saves) pushed the ball over the crossbar.
- Late in the first half, UVM worked a 3-on-2 in front of the net. Jon Arnar Barðdal sent a cross to Alves, who tried to tap the ball into the right side, but Tom Wallenstein (7 saves) made the close range stop.
- Vermont struck for its second goal of the match three minutes into the second half. Arnar Steinn Hansson had his shot turned away by Wallenstein, but Adrian Gahabka buried the rebound for his first goal as a Catamount.
- Morrison scored his first career goal in the 60th minute. Jonathan Bryant passed a cross to the far post where Morrison used his chest to knock in the easy score.
