BOSTON, Mass. – Sydney Scobee made 36 saves and
Ali O'Leary tied the game at 2-2 early in the third period, but the second-ranked Boston College Eagles pulled out a 3-2 overtime win over the Catamounts Friday night at Conte Forum.

The Eagles improve to 21-2-3 overall and 14-1-3 in Hockey East play while the Catamounts fall to 6-15-3 overall and 3-10-3 in conference play. Â

Jim Plumer said. "We had a fantastic third period and had significant opportunities to win it in regulation. I can't say enough about how resilient this team is and how much we've improved. Tomorrow will be our ninth straight game against a top-10 team and I wonder if anyone has ever had a stretch like that."

Kenzie Kent put the Eagles up early in the game after her shot from the slot found its way past
Sydney Scobee. Caitrin Lonergan brought the puck in the zone before moving the puck to Kent for the goal.

Just over a minute later, the Catamounts nearly tied the game while on the power play. Defenseman
Daria O'Neill's shot from the top of the slot beat Eagle goalie Katie Burt, but rang off the post before being covered for a whistle.

The teams traded chances through the remainder of the period with few stoppages. Vermont killed its only penalty late in the period after
Ève-Audrey Picard picked up a minor for interference. Scobee made 13 saves in the period for the Cats.

Alyssa Gorecki tied the game 1:51 into the second period following a Boston College defensive zone turnover.
Taylor Willard picked up the assist on Gorecki's sixth goal of the season. Â Â

The teams traded chances for the middle half of the third period with the Catamounts killing a pair of penalties. However, Lonergan picked up a Catamount defensive zone turnover with five minutes remaining and skated across the slot before beating Scobee under her blocker.

Each team killed a penalty in the last five minutes of the middle frame and entered the second intermission with the Eagles leading 2-1. Scobee tallied 25 saves through the first two periods with BC's Burt making 10 stops. Â

After Boston College was called for a penalty less than 30 seconds into the third,
Ali O'Leary scored a backdoor goal to tie the game at 2-2.

Amanda Drobot, who fired a pass across the top of the crease to O'Leary for the goal.

The teams traded unsuccessful power plays halfway through the final period, with
Greta Close picking up a hooking call for the Catamounts and Daryl Watts getting called for checking.

At the end of regulation, the Eagles and Catamounts sat tied at 2-2, with BC holding a 36-17 shots advantage. Each team received five power play opportunities, with the Catamounts successful on one advantage while the Eagles unable to crack Vermont's penalty kill.

Serena Summerfield won the game for the Eagles less than two minutes into the extra period. She picked up the puck at the Catamount blue line and fired a shot through traffic and past Scobee for the game winner.
