GOING FOR HISTORY PART I
After clinching the No. 1 seed in the America East Tournament with Wednesday night's win over Albany, the Catamounts are trying to become the only team in the history of the league to complete a 16-0 conference season. UVM is tied with Siena's 1988-89 team as the only regimes to start 15-0 in conference play.
GOING FOR HISTORY PART II
The 2016-17 squad became the fourth UVM team to reach 25 wins in a single season. This year's team is looking to ink another milestone in the record book for the highest win total after already setting the program record with  hottest start, most consecutive overall and league wins, and posted its ninth straight 20-win season.
LAST TIME OUT |Albany Highlights
Vermont captured the outright America East Regular Season crown for the sixth time in program history with a 62-50 conference win over Albany on Wednesday night in front of a sold-out Patrick Gym crowd. The Catamounts secured home court advantage in the upcoming America East Tournament.
Payton Henson dropped 18 points, six rebounds, and two assists to lead UVM. The redshirt junior was 5-of-9 from the floor and a perfect 6-for-6 at the line.Â
Ernie Duncan drained 5-of-8 attempts from the field, including a trio of long distance shots, for 13 points.Â
Anthony Lamb added 12 second-half points and grabbed five rebounds.Â
Trae Bell-Haynes was one point shy of double figures with nine points, four boards, two assists, and two steals.
SCOUTING STONY BROOK
Since the Cats handed the Seawolves a 71-64 loss on Jan. 28, Stony Brook went on a tear with a six-game winning streak before UMBC dealt a 65-52 defeat on Wednesday. The Seawolves have already locked up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming America East Tournament. In conference play, Stony Brook leads the league in turnover margin at +3.27 while holding its America East foes to conference-low 41.7% from the field. Lucas Woodhouse mans the offensive ship for the Seawolves with a 14.6 points per game average. Woodhouse had an impressive streak of 12 straight games with double figures, including six 20-point outings, before the run came to a halt last Saturday against Binghamton. Tyrell Sturdivant (11.3 ppg) and Roland Nyama (10.9 ppg) round out the Seawolves' scoring attack with three players averaging double figures.
SERIES HISTORY
The Catamounts avenged last year's title game loss on Jan. 28 with a 71-64 win on Long Island. The green and gold lead the all-time series against the Seawolves 25-11, which dates back to 2001-02. Vermont has won five of the last seven against the Stony Brook and hold a 7-3 mark in the last 10 games at Patrick Gym.
