FINAL SCORE (2OT): Vermont 2, UMass Lowell 2
LOWELL, Mass. – The Catamounts overcame a 2-0 deficit and scored twice in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw at UMass Lowell on Thursday night. Vermont moves to 5-5-2 on the year and 1-1-1 in league play. UMass Lowell improves to 3-5-4 overall and 0-2-2 against conference foes.

The River Hawks struck first in the seventh minute. Shannon Groffie lofted a free kick into the box where Andrea Morrow leaped up for a header and centered the ball in front of the net. After letting the ball take one bounce, Rachel Morrier chipped the go-ahead score into the right side of the net.
In the 15th minute, Morrier padded UMass Lowell's lead with her second goal of the evening. Kristi Birgisdottir lined a cross from the outside right corner of the box where Morrier tapped in her second score after sliding in front of the net.
The Catamounts cut the deficit in half in the 58th minute.
Sarah Martin gathered a loose ball in the box and tapped in a low shot into the right side of the net.
In the 65th minute, Martin nearly tied the game for the Green and Gold on a free kick as she ripped a shot from 20 yards out off the crossbar.
Casey Garfinkel collected the rebound and launched a right-footed shot towards the net but the junior's attempt sailed too high.
UVM came through with the equalizer in the 75th minute. After Martin had her shot blocked by a River Hawk defender,
Brooke Jenkins put the rebound into the bottom right corner for the game-tying score.
In the extra session,
Sydney Cammeyer bent a cross into the six-yard box and nearly ended the game but the searching cross couldn't find a Vermont foot and rolled just wide.
Vermont returns home to host Maine on Sunday (Oct. 8) at 1 p.m. The contest is UVM's annual Rally Against Cancer game presented by Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cancer research initiative. The matchup is also in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend, presented by the UVM Alumni Association.
