Box Score
"We definitely had a lot of momentum and had some shots off the post but we kept telling the team - it's coming, it's coming," head coach
Kristi Lefebvre said. "We just had to keep pushing and we didn't try to change anything. We tried to stay fresh and keep the playing the way we were and had faith that the pieces would fall into place."
UVM goalie
Coco Speckmaier (3 saves) recorded her fourth clean sheet of the season and came through a big save for the Green and Gold in the 15th minute. Maine's Kendra Ridley launched an attempt from the top of the box, but Speckamier dove to her right for the clutch save.
Three minutes later,
Brooke Jenkins forced Black Bears' keeper Annalena Kriebisch to make a key save of her own. Jenkins tracked down a loose ball and ripped a shot towards the right side of the net but Kriebisch caught the attempt to preserve the scoreless tie.
In the second half, the Cats came within inches of scoring but their shots were rejected twice by the goalpost. In the 48th minute,
Julia Smith received a through ball on the right side of the box and chipped a shot towards the far post, but the ball clanked off the left upright. In the 60th minute,
Colby Snyder had similar results when her attempt bounced off the left post after striking a shot from the right side of the box.
With 10 minutes left in the contest,
Sarah Martin dished a through ball from the right side of the field to a sprinting Snyder, who lofted a cross from the end line into the box. Yurick collected the pass and booted the game-winning goal inside of the near post with a right-footed shot.
