BURLINGTON, Vt. – For the third straight season, the UVM women's soccer team earned an America East Tournament bid on the last day of the regular season. The Catamounts honored its seven seniors for Senior Day with a 2-0 shutout victory against Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon.

With the victory over Stony Brook and UMass Lowell's 1-0 loss at Maine, the Catamounts earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming America East Tournament. Vermont improves to 7-8-2 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play. The Seawolves fall to 8-10 on the season and drop to an even 4-4 against league rivals.
The Catamounts jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute with an own goal.
Brooke Jenkins sent a cross from the goal line to
Angie Salvi, who put a touch on the ball towards the near post. A Stony Brook defender tried to clear the shot away but deflected the go-ahead score into the back of the net.
Christina Barry padded UVM's lead in the 30th minute with her first career goal. On a corner kick,
Ella Bankert hooked a ball towards the far end of the box where Barry lined a shot through traffic and tucked the second goal of the day inside of the near post.
In the second half, UVM's defense stepped up to keep Stony Brook off the scoreboard despite facing 12 shots in the period. Senior keeper
Coco Speckmaier (8 saves) made a key stop in the 64th minute on a close-range shot from Fanny Gotesson.
The match marked the final regular season game at Virtue Field for seven Catamounts –
