Vermont evens its record at 5-5-1 overall and 1-1 in America East play after the road victory. Binghamton suffers its second clean sheet in the last 13 games while dropping to 7-3-3 on the year and 1-2 in the league standings.
The Cats jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the 25th minute with
Colby Snyder's first goal of the season. Jenkins sent a cross into the middle of the box where Snyder settled the ball and fired a shot into the right corner of the net after the attempt deflected off Binghamton keeper Katie Hatziyianis' (3 saves) gloves.
Binghamton had a chance for the equalizer two minutes later. Kayla Saager took a free kick from 30 yards out that breezed over the crossbar.
With under 10 minutes left in the half, Saager tried again for the game-tying score with a close-range header, but UVM goalie
Coco Speckmaier (13 saves, career-high) made the save to keep the Bearcats off the scoreboard.
Jenkins sealed the win for UVM in the 71st minute after
Bridgette King handed out the assist. King passed to Jenkins in the middle of the field where the junior placed a perfect ball into the top right corner of the net.
