In the 26th minute with the Catamounts looking to get on the board first
Brian Wright earned a penalty kick after he was pushed to the ground by a Big Green defender.
Loftur Eriksson, who had converted two penalties this season, stepped up to take the opportunity. Eriksson had Dartmouth goalkeeper James Hickok fooled on the play, but missed just over the crossbar.
Â
Minutes later Dartmouth got on the board as Jonathan Nierenberg scored his first goal of the season in the 29th minute. Emmanuel Arteaga centered a perfect cross in the box to Nierenberg who headed it past the UVM goalkeeper
Aron Runarsson.

In the second half
Stefan Lamanna scored his third goal of the season to get the teams back level in the 69th minute. Lamanna corralled a feed from Jon Arnar Barodal just outside the box before firing a strike just under the bar to make it 1-1.
Â
The Catamounts pressed for a winner in the late stages of the second half but after 90 minutes they were headed to overtime for the third time this season.
Â
Vermont had the best chance to produce a winner in the second overtime. From the end line Lamanna found
Bernard Yeboah open for a header that he fired off the crossbar and out.
Â
With the tie the Catamounts record is 8-1-1, including a 2-0-1 record against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season. The tie was the Big Green's fourth this season as they sit at 1-2-4.
Â
The Catamounts return to action at Virtue Field on Tuesday night as they will face Hartwick College at 7 p.m. It will be the final non-conference game for Vermont before they begin America East play next weekend.
Â
NOTES: Before the game members of the men's and women's soccer and lacrosse programs held a ribbon cutting ceremony with UVM athletic director
Jeff Schulman, and former athletic director Bob Corran to officially open the Stadium at Virtue Field.
