BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont closed out non-league play with a 2-1 double overtime loss to Hartwick College on Tuesday evening at Virtue Field. Kyle Honor won the game for the Hawks with 3:13 left in the second overtime period.
UVM heads into America East play with a record of 8-2-1, while Hartwick improves to 5-1-2.

The teams battled to a scoreless draw in the first half in a tight defensive tilt.
The 16th-ranked Catamounts jumped on the scoreboard first in the 80th minute.
Shane Haley battled through the Hawks' defense on the goal line and sent a low cross to
Bernard Yeboah, who one-timed a line drive into the left side of the net past Lenny Wilson (6 saves). The goal was Yeboah's team-high ninth of the season, moving him into a tie for second nationally.
Hartwick answered back less than five minutes later. Kane O'Neill tallied the equalizer into the top right corner of the goal on a first-time volley from 25 yards out.
As the game moved into two extra sessions, Honor scored the walk-off goal in the 106th minute. Cameron Paton blooped a cross into the far side of the box for Honor, who ripped a shot past a diving
Aron Runarsson (5 saves) inside the left post.
UVM had a chance to end the game four minutes into the second overtime period. Haley dribbled to his right on the edge of the box and directed a low right-footed shot that deflected off the outside of the right post.
The Catamounts finished the night with a 16-15 edge in shots.
Vermont opens America East play on Saturday (Oct. 1) at 4 p.m. against Stony Brook. The conference opener is the annual Rally Against Cancer Game presented by Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets. The team will wear pink socks and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
