Box Score"In the first half we were good, had some opportunities to take a lead and didn't capitalize. The second half was disappointing and tough to watch and be part of. It is a humbling experience that we can and will learn from going forward," said Vermont head coach
Jesse Cormier.
After a scoreless first half, Hofstra netted two goals in a span of two minutes just 10 minutes into the second stanza to take a 2-0 lead.
Mani Wolcott collected a touch pass through the UVM defense and his shot was deflected into the net to put the Pride up 1-0. Holland, who assisted on the first tally, quickly added to Hofstra's lead, putting back a rebound of his own shot in the 57th minute.
Hofstra pushed its lead to 3-0 on a goal by Meshack Eshun Addy in the 79th minute. He made a run out of the midfield and fired in a high shot that beat UVM goalkeeper
Greg Walton.
The Pride closed out the scoring with a penalty kick in the 82nd minute. Holland stepped up and converted the attempt with a shot to right corner for his second goal of the afternoon.
Walton made five saves in net through 82 minutes before being relieved by
Eric Venezia for the final eight minutes of the match. Patric Pray was credited with three stops in the Hofstra goal.
Hofstra moves to 2-0 to start the season, while Vermont evens its record to 1-1 on the year.
