PORTLAND, Ore. – Jordan Jones netted the lone goal of the evening to lead No. 21 Oregon State to a 1-0 victory over Vermont in the Nike Portland Classic on Friday night at Merlo Field.

Shortly after a 40-minute lightning delay that halted the first half, the Beavers took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute. Jones headed in a long throw from Mikhail Doholis for his first goal of the year.
 
Oregon State out shot Vermont 6-1 in the first half. The Catamounts and Beavers were even in shots in the second period, 5-5.
 
Greg Walton made four stops in the Vermont net, while Nolan Wirth was credited with one save for the Beavers.
 
Vermont falls to 1-2 on the year, while Oregon State moves to 3-0 in 2015.
