WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NOTEBOOKThe University of Vermont women's basketball team begins a three-game road trip starting with a game against Columbia on Tuesday (Nov. 17) at 7 p.m. UVM then heads to Rhode Island for a pair of contests versus Bryant in Smithfield on Saturday (Nov. 21) at 1 p.m. followed by Brown on Monday (Nov. 23) at 7 p.m.

Lori Gear McBride earned her 100th career win as the Catamounts downed Central Connecticut State last Friday 79-63 in their home opener. Vermont held the Blue Devils to 28-percent from the field and 6-for-24 from 3-point range.
UVM opened the second quarter with a dominant 22-0 run, fueled by Atwood who drained two 3-point buckets and Smith added nine points. Vermont shot 5-for-5 from 3-point range and went 8-for-9 from the field during the run to take a 37-19 lead.
The Catamounts made a final push in the fourth quarter with their lead growing as large as 27 in the second half.
Sydney Smith led the way posting her first career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Smith's 10 rebounds were also a career-high. Four Catamounts posted double-figures in points as
Kylie Atwood added 12 with a career-high four 3-pointers,
Candice Wright collected 12 points while going 6-for-7 from the foul line, while
Courtney Wright scored 12 and shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the field.
Vermont's 79 points were the most recorded by UVM since its game versus Albany on Jan. 29 of last season.
SCOUTING COLUMBIAThe Lions return 11 members to the squad in 2015-16 with eight having played at least 20 games last season. Among those eight include the team's top six scorers from last year. Columbia was picked to finish eighth in the Ivy League this season with 26 points in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Lions concluded the 2014-15 season with a 8-20 (2-12) record.

The Lions are coming off a 70-68 overtime road win over America East foe UMBC last Friday. Tori Oliver netted a game-high 23 points on the day, finishing 10-for-14 from the floor while adding eight rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal.

Alexa Guiliano finished with 17 points after hitting five from downtown, while Camille Zimmerman also finished in double-digits with 15 points after going 6-for-12 from the field.

As a team, the Lions shot 41.8-percent from the field and sunk eight 3-pointers while collecting 41 rebounds. Guiliano, Oliver and Zimmerman combined for 55 of Columbia's 70 total points.
SERIES HISTORYVermont leads the all-time series against Columbia 4-0. The last time the Catamounts and Lions went head-to-head was during the 2012-13 season when Vermont earned the victory with a 46-40 win over Columbia. UVM is 39-32 all-time versus teams in the Ivy League since UVM's inaugural season in 1979.
