STORRS, Conn. – Elaine Chuli tied the Connecticut program record with 55 saves as the Huskies defeated Vermont 5-1 Saturday night in Hockey East action at the Freitas Ice Forum.

The Huskies opened the scoring 12:42 into the first period. Senior forward Rebecca Fleming scored her third goal of the season with assists going to Kelly Harris and Leah Lum. All of Fleming's goals this season have come in Hockey East action.

Just 30 seconds later the Catamounts bounced back with a goal of their own.
Dayna Colang picked up her ninth goal of the season to tie the game at one with 6:48 left in the opening frame. Colang's first goal since her nine-game point streak was ended in late November was assisted by
Mackenzie MacNeil and
Amanda Pelkey.

Vermont heavily outshot the Huskies in the second period, Chuli made 23 saves for the Huskies and UConn converted twice late in the period. With 3:44 left in the second Kelly Harris scored an unassisted power play goal, her fifth of the season. Then Snodgrass scored her 10
th goal of the season with 56 seconds left in the second.

Just 2:08 into the third period Snodgrass struck again to push the Huskies advantage to three goals. Kayla Campero and Sarah MacDonnell assisted on Snodgrass' 11
th goal of the season. It was the second time this season Snodgrass registered a multi-goal performance.

The Catamounts played for over four minutes late in the third period with their goalie pulled for the extra-attacker in an attempt to get back into the game. Chuli turned aside 13 Vermont shots in the final frame to secure her fourth win of the season. With 1:17 left in regulation Theresa Knutson put her seventh goal of the season into the empty net.

"I'm not sure I've been part of a game like this before," said head coach
Jim Plumer. "We were dominant territorially but couldn't solve their goalie. Our effort was there but we simply couldn't finish."
