DURHAM, N.H. – Julia Fedeski led the Wildcats with three points as New Hampshire scored five unanswered goals to hand Vermont its first Hockey East loss at the Whittemore Center Saturday afternoon.

Brittany Zuback deflected the puck past UNH's Ashley Wilkes for her team-leading sixth goal of the season. It took the Catamounts only five seconds to convert on the power play.
The Wildcats equalized with six seconds left in the first period. In transition Amy Boucher passed from behind the net to Joanna Curtis who beat Vermont's
Madison Litchfield with a quick backhand shot for her fourth goal of the season. Curtis' tally ended the Catamounts program record shutout streak at 215 minutes and 38 seconds.
New Hampshire took its first lead of the afternoon after converting on a shorthanded odd-man rush. Litchfield was able to make the save on Curtis' two-on-one attempt but Fedelski, who was trailing the play, gathered the rebound and fired it past Litchfield for her first career goal 2:44 into the second period.
Sara Carlson made it a two-goal lead for the Wildcats at the 5:29 mark of the second period. In transition she made a nice toe-drag move to get past the Vermont defense and beat Litchfield with a quick shot for her first goal of the season.
The Wildcats put the game out of reach with two power play goals in the third period. Amy Boucher scored her third goal of the season at the 10:05 mark. She gathered a rebound in the slot and fired a backhand past Litchfield. Fedeski and Nicoline Jensen assisted on the goal. Amy Schalgel rounded out the scoring with a point shot through traffic with 6:24 left in regulation.
After the Wildcats fifth goal Vermont pulled Litchfield who made 27 saves on the afternoon for the Catamounts.
Molly Depew saw her first Hockey East action for Vermont in the closing minutes, making one save. New Hampshire's Wilkes earned her first win of the season making 21 saves.
"UNH played smarter hockey and got the win," said head coach
Jim Plumer. "It's a good reminder for us that we have to keep the game simple. We've got another chance tomorrow."
The Catamounts continue their six-game road trip tomorrow afternoon as they face No. 1 Boston College at 2 p.m. It is just the third time in program history Vermont has faced the top ranked team in the country.
