BURLINGTON, Vt. – The New Hampshire Wildcats scored once in each half to post a 2-0 victory over Vermont at Virtue Field in the America East men's soccer regular season finale for both teams.
Vermont has clinched a playoff spot and will wait to find out where and who it will play on Saturday (Nov. 8) after three other games, with 7 p.m. kickoffs, are completed later tonight. The Catamounts finish the regular season with a record of 7-8-2 overall and 2-4-1 in America East. New Hampshire improves to 6-10-1 on the year and 2-5 in league play.

America East Tournament Central The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of action. Paul Bianchi worked the ball along the endline and sent a pass to the top of the penalty area. Christopher Wingate collected the pass and hit a hard, low shot to the far corner just out of reach of UVM goalkeeper

New Hampshire took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Vermont scored what seemed to be the equalizer midway through the second half, but the goal was called back as a Catamount was ruled offside.
UNH pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 69th minute. The Vermont defense failed to clear the ball out of its own penalty area. The ball caromed off a UVM player and fell to Erik Martel who fired a shot in low to the far corner.
The Wildcats were able to hold off Vermont the rest of the way. Travis Worra was credited with two saves in the UNH net, while Leland did not register a save in goal for Vermont.
