Women's Basketball Faces No. 22 Syracuse on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel & ESPN3 Monday

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Vermont women's basketball team faces No. 22 Syracuse on Monday (Dec. 1) at 7 p.m. in the first meeting between the two teams since the 2002-03 season. The game will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. Streaming video is also available via ESPN3 and the WatchESPN App. The game can also be heard on WVMT-620 AM (online: SportsJuice.com) with Kevin Fitzgerald calling the action.

LAST TIME OUT - Delaware 68, Vermont 46
Freshman Sydney Smith scored a career-high 14 points to lead the Catamounts, but Delaware's Courtni Green poured in a career-high 30 points to lead the Blue Hens to the win ... UVM fell behind 13-2 to start the game, but climbed back to within two with seven minutes left in the half ... Delaware led 26-31 at the break ... Vermont closed to within two again in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Blue Hens pushed their lead to 12 behind eight straight points from Green. Delaware extended its lead to 15 at the 8:11 mark of the stanza and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

STARTING FIVE SCORE
All five starters reached double-figures in the scoring column in the overtime loss at CCSU ... The last time that happened was against UMBC on March 3, 2004.

COMEBACK KIDS
Vermont came back from a 13-point deficit in the first half, 10-point second half hole and seven-point deficit in the overtime loss at Central Connecticut (77-75) ... UVM fell at the buzzer in OT.

ABOUT SYRACUSE
Syracuse stands at 4-1 on the year ... The Orange suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, nearly defeating No. 1 South Carolina, 67-63 ... The Orange boast four players in double-figures, led by Alexis Peterson's 14.4 points per game ... Briana Day is averaging a double-double (12.2 ppg/12.8 rpg) ... Syracuse was picked to finish sixth in the ACC Preseason Poll ... The Orange went 23-10 last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year, falling to Kentucky in the second round ... Head coach Quentin Hillsman is in his ninth year at the helm at Syracuse.

THE SERIES
This is the seventh meeting between the two teams and first since Dec. 18, 2002 ... The series is tied 3-3 ... Syracuse has won the last two, including the last meeting in Burlington, 79-75, in overtime ... UVM will be playing the Orange for the first time in the Carrier Dome. In Vermont's previous three visits to Syracuse the games were played at Manley Field House.

The Catamounts remain on the road, traveling to Fairfield, Connecticut to face Sacred Heart on Wednesday (Dec. 3).
