Final Score: Vermont 4, Union 0 | CatamounTV Highlights & Postgame
BURLINGTON, Vt.
– In the second straight game four different Catamounts scored and Vermont held its opponent off the board as they swept the weekend series against Union College with a 4-0 win Saturday afternoon at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

Vermont freshman Molly Depew, who was making her first collegiate start, was tested early by a strong Union power play. The Dutchwomen managed three shots on the advantage but Depew stood tall to keep it scoreless.

The Catamounts struck first on their own power play minutes later. Victoria Andreakos cut to the slot and fired a shot that was stopped initially by Union goaltender Shenae Lundberg. Brittany Zuback corralled the rebound from the side of the net and put it home for her fourth goal of the season at the 4:26 mark. Amanda Pelkey was credited with the secondary assist.

Vermont struck again three minutes later off a stretch of extended time in the offensive zone. Sarah Campbell scored her first of the season with a backhand shot through traffic. Mackenzie MacNeil earned her first collegiate point with an assist on the play.

After a scoreless second period Vermont put Union out of reach early in the third. Bridget Baker gathered a loose puck at the faceoff circle, skated to the slot and roofed a backhand shot for her third goal of the season. Zuback was credited with the assist on the play.

Pelkey closed out the scoring for the Catamounts with 12:36 left in the third period. She stepped through some traffic and walked in alone on Lundberg and fired a quick low shot to pick up her fourth goal of the season. Dayna Colang and Campbell earned assists Pelkey's team-leading eighth point of the season.

Depew earned her first career shutout and win, making a total of 13 saves on the afternoon. It was the first time Vermont has shutout opponents in back-to-back games since December 1-2, 2012 at Connecticut. Current goaltender coach Roxanne Douville was in net for both of those games.

Vermont is now 5-2-1 this season it is the best ever start for the Catamounts through eight games. The five non-conference wins have already matched the previous program record as well.

The Catamounts close out their six-game homestand next Sunday as they host Connecticut in their Hockey East opener. Faceoff is set for 2 p.m. and it is Youth Hockey Day, which includes a postgame skate with the student-athletes.

NOTES: Bridget Baker, Amanda Pelkey, and Dayna Colang combined to win 18 of the 24 draws they took … The Catamounts have been successful in their last 25 penalty kills … Vermont remains undefeated this season when scoring first or when Amanda Pelkey, their leading scorer, picks up a point.
