BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's soccer team stands in a tie for first place with UMBC in the America East standings. Both teams have seven points in the league and the Catamounts have played one more game than the Retrievers.
 
Vermont stands at 7-5-1 on the season and is 2-1-0 in conference play. The Catamounts are coming off a 1-0 win at Binghamton in double overtime. Brad Cole converted a penalty kick with one minute remaining in the second extra session. It was Cole's second career goal, his first came on September 7, another game-winning penalty kick in a 2-1 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn.

Sophomore Brian Wright leads the team in scoring with 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Wright is tied with UMBC's Kay Banjo for the league lead in points, but is the America East leader in goals.
 
Senior Conor Leland, the America East Co-Player of the Week, picked up his 21st career victory (7th all-time) and 18th career shutout (5th all-time) in the win over Binghamton. The 2012 America East Goalkeeper of the Year, Leland carries a 0.86 goals against average and .750 save percentage into the match. He also owns a shutout streak of 308:34 minutes heading into Saturday's match.
 
Hartford began the week with a 7-5-2 record and stood at 2-2 in league play. The Hawks posted shutout wins against New Hampshire and Stony Brook last week. Sophomore goalkeeper David MacKinnon was named the America East Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Leland. Scott McKirgan was named the America East Rookie of the Week.
 
MacKinnon has allowed 13 goals in 13 starts this season and owns a 0.98 goals against average and .780 save percentage. He has 14 shutouts for his career. Javoni Simms leads the team in scoring with seven points and a team-high three assists. Romario Jones has netted a team-high three goals.
