Shelby Hinkle Smith was promoted to Senior Associate Director, Programs after serving as the Associate Director in Campus Recreation since 2012.
Smith leads the Campus Recreation programs unit and oversees intramural sports, fitness, youth and community programming, academic physical activity-based courses, assessment and student development initiatives.
She began her UVM career as the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports in 2007. She was previously the Director of Intramural Sports at Norwich University and Assistant Operations Manager in the Department of Student Life at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Smith graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1996 with a degree in kinesiology. She earned her M.S. in athletic administration from Ohio University in 1999 and received a doctorate in social psychology of sport & exercise from the University of Northern Colorado in 2005.
Smith's husband Justin is the Co-Director of Athletic Performance for the UVM athletic department. Shelby and Justin reside in Shelburne with their daughter Parker.
