McClendon joined the UVM field hockey staff in the spring of 2023.
During her second season as assistant, she worked with the defense that held opponents to 1.60 goals per game, which was second best in the conference. Sophia Lefranc finished sixth in the conference with three defensive saves while Alicia Battistelli and Maddy Weaver each had one.
During her first season as assistant, she worked with the defense that held opponents to 2.50 goals per game, which was 5th best in the conference. Ally Kennedy finished ninth in the conference with two defensive saves, while Meg Weyer also recorded one.
McClendon most recently served as an assistant at Division II Converse University in South Carolina. In her lone season with the Valkyries, she helped lead the team to a 17-2 record and a South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship. Converse was nationally ranked in the top-10 all season as McClendon coached the league’s offensive and defensive players of the year.
A five-year starter at Old Dominion, McClendeon was a two-time Second Team All-Big East selection, two-time All-Big East Tournament selection, and finished her career with 33 assists in 84 total games as a back. She was also named to the NFHCA Senior Team, the NFHCA All-Academic Squad, and was recognized as an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction following the 2021 season.
While at ODU, she spent time serving on the Racial Equality Task Force, and in 2018, she was selected to play in the USA Young Women’s National Championship.
McClendon is originally from Virginia Beach, Va.
