University of Vermont alumna Krista Balogh leads the external relations unit of the Athletic Department and oversees marketing & promotions, ticketing, communications, CatamounTV, special events, and serves as a liaison to the Vermont Sports Properties unit. She directs the University of Vermont’s licensing program and serves as the Chair of the America East Competition and Championships Committee.
The native of Marlboro, New Jersey began her career at UVM as the Director of Marketing and Promotions (2002-10). She was then promoted to Assistant Athletic Director and, in August 2015, elevated to Associate Athletic Director for External Relations and Communications as well as University Licensing Director.
Balogh’s senior administrative responsibilities include being a member of the department's leadership team, chairing a number of committees and searches for the department, and supervising the men’s soccer, Nordic and alpine skiing and women's swimming & diving programs.
Additionally, Balogh serves on numerous department, campus, conference and national committees, including the University of Vermont’s Sponsorship Committee, Senior Strategic Communications Committee and Catamounts Professional Development Committee. She holds membership with the ICLA (International Collegiate Licensing Association) and NACMA (National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators), formerly serving for many years as the NACMA conference representative for Hockey East and America East and currently for the ICLA. She previously assisted on the NACMA Strategic Communications committee. Balogh often serves as a guest speaker across campus and throughout Vermont at local high schools and other collegiate institutions.
As Licensing Director for UVM, Balogh protects the trademarks, service marks, logos, symbols and indicia that belong to the university and that are associated with the values and traditions of Vermont while promoting the university in a consistent manner by allowing only uses by officially licensed vendors and on quality products. She works closely with CLC Learfield IMG College and over 200 vendors and retailors.
She leads two courses at UVM, teaching Event Planning for Athletics in addition to Careers in College Athletics. She was instrumental in the development of the Sports Management minor, a collaboration between Athletics, the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, the Grossman School of Business, the College of Education and Social Services, and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Balogh also formalized an internship program within the Athletic Department, giving students the opportunity to gain real-life experience in many areas of the department for college credit.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from UVM in 2002, and then earned a master’s in public administration in 2007. As an undergraduate, Balogh was a standout swimmer for the Catamounts and captained the squad her junior and senior years. In 2002, she was a recipient of the Semans Trophy, awarded to the senior male and female student-athlete who has demonstrated a high level of athletic achievement and earned the respect and regard of fellow students for leadership, loyalty and service to the university.
Balogh and her husband Andy have two sons, Jack and Charlie. They reside in South Burlington with their yellow lab, Digsby.
