Danny Murphy enters his third season in 2025 as an assistant coach for the Catamounts.
In his third season in Burlington, Vermont, his offense ranked third in both assists per game and points while ranking fourth in goals per game. The man-up unit averaged the second most goals in the conference, just over one per game. Luke Reiter and Matthew Drimmie both earned all-conference honors for their performances.
Murphy’s second season in Burlington saw his offense record 40 more goals and 13 more assists than 2023 while averaging nearly a goal more per game. They ranked number one in the conference in shooting percentage, and first-year Max Frattaroli finished the season with the highest ranking in the country. Two offensive players were named to the America East First Team, and Charlie Pope was named the Offensive Player of the Year after he led the conference in goals.Â
In 2023 he helped lead Vermont to its third straight America East Regular Season Championship.
Murphy came to UVM after spending a season at Michigan as a volunteer assistant in 2022 and after two seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, Tufts University.
As a player for the Jumbos, Murphy scored 290 points (150 goals, 140 assists) in a 63-game career. He was named a USILA All-American three times, a USILA Scholar All-American in 2019 and was a three-time selection to the NESCACÂ and NEILAÂ first team.
Originally from Hauppauge, N.Y., Murphy graduated from Tufts University in 2019 with a degree in political science.
