FRESHMAN SEASON (2013): Started 17 of the 18 games she played in … Was the 2013 America East Rookie of the Year and also earned spots on the America East All-Rookie and All-Conference Second Team … McFarland became the first America East Rookie of the Year honoree for the Catamounts since 1996 … She led the team in scoring with 14 points on six goals and two assists … Her six goals were the most by a UVM rookie since 1995 … She ranked among the top-10 leaders in the league in goals (5th), goals per game (6th), points (7th) and points per game (8th) … She was the leading scorer among all rookies in America East … McFarland picked up her first career points in her collegiate debut with an assist in a victory over Sacred Heart … Netted her first career goal versus Southern Utah … Scored the game-winning goal in a double-overtime win at Binghamton in the regular season finale that propelled UVM into the America East Playoffs for a school-record third straight year … Wrapped up the season scoring UVM’s lone goal in a loss at Hartford in the America East Quarterfinals.
BEFORE VERMONT: McFarland, a forward, comes to UVM from Deer Park High School and played for the Albertson Fury ECNL ... She was a part of the Eastern New York Olympic Develop Program ... At Deer Park, McFarland scored 20 goals, added 13 assists and led the team to the league title in 2009 and 2010. She also earned all-conference honors in 2009 ... With the Fury, rated a “Top 25 Team” in Region I by GotSoccer.com, McFarland helped the team win the 2011 Eastern New York State Cup title.
