FIRST YEAR SEASON (2024): Appeared in 18 games for the Catamounts, seeing two starts ... Logged 643 total minutes on the field for UVM ... Recorded one shot ... Registered a conference/season-high 110 minutes in a double-overtime match vs Binghamton during the America East Quarterfinals.
BEFORE VERMONT: Barry comes to Vermont from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where she attended St Joseph High School ... In 2020 she joined the SK EXCEL program after a long, invitation only, tryout process ... SK EXCEL is home to the best players in Saskatchewan ranging from grades 9-12 ... She joined the program at the beginning of grade 9, amidst COVID, and initially a midfielder ... After COVID and extensive fitness, and technical training she transitioned into the full time role of a Centre Back ... After only playing Centre back for a year she made the Team Sask Canada Summer Games team, as a fifteen year old ... In the Centre Back position she got the honor of traveling across the country to display her talents ... Before committing to UVM, she trialled at the Vancouver Whitecaps NDC program, travelled to several Top 60, and All-Star First Touch Football (FTF), invite only combines, where she received Overall MVP, and Defensive MVP, and furthermore played for Rest-of-Canada at an NDC, invite only showcase ... In her 2023 EXCEL season she was named Sask Youth Female Player of The Year, voted by SSA (Saskatchewan Soccer Association) staff as well as, players, player of the year, voted by my EXCEL peers ... Alongside her EXCEL accomplishments, she was fortunate enough to play four years on her high school soccer team ... In her final two seasons, she was named team captain in which they won the league, city and provincial champion title, back-to-back and was further nominated Female Athlete of The Year in 2023 by her St. Joseph high school teachers ... Throughout her high school athletic career, Barry notched 19 goals and 43 assists.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Heidi and Clayton Barry … Has two siblings, Avery and Cole … Plans on studying in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences … Barry chose UVM because of her lifelong dream to play Division 1 soccer and a singular visit on campus, where she instantly knew UVM was the place she wanted to be … Being from a small province, her biggest influence as an athlete is the kids she grew up around, where everyone pushes each other to achieve their personal goals … Barry will be wearing #24, a number she has worn ever since youth soccer … Fun fact about Barry, she has a hockey rink in her backyard and her favorite sports team is the Edmonton Oilers.
