Marc Hickok has been at UVM since 2011 and was named Assistant Director of Athletics, Director of Athletic Performance in September of 2018.

He is responsible for the oversight of all Vermont athletic programs as well as directly responsible for implementing the athletic performance programs for men's basketball, men’s lacrosse and assisting with men's hockey.

Prior to UVM, Hickok was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of South Florida. At USF, he was the head strength coach for the men’s and women’s soccer and softball teams. He also assisted with the implementation of the strength and conditioning program for the football team as well as coaching the placekickers and punters during practice.

Hickok also serves as the Director of Performance for the USA Softball Women’s National Team.  He is responsible for designing and implementing training programs for the senior national team.  Hickok traveled to take part in numerous training camps across the country and traveled with the team to both the Pan American Games (2019 – gold medal winners) in Lima Peru and the World Championships in Tokyo Japan (2018 – gold medal winners).     

Hickok is currently a PhD candidate in the Human Functioning and Rehabilitation Science program at UVM.  His research interests include investigating inter-limb asymmetries and unilateral vs. bilateral training as it pertains to athletic performance and injury prevention.

Hickok is a Certified Strength and Conditioning specialist (CSCS) through NSCA as well as a certified Functional Movement Specialist (FMS). He holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences (anatomy and physiology) from the University of Connecticut. He earned Master’s Degree in exercise science at USF.

Hickok was a five-year member of the UConn football team as a placekicker. He ranks in the top-10 all-time leaders in points scored and field goals in the team’s 100-plus year history.

After graduating from UConn, Hickok pursued a professional football career and was a member of the NFL Champion New York Giants (2007), NFL Europe’s Rhein Fire, and the AF2’s Stockton Lightning.
