Ari Shapiro-Miller serves as the Assistant Director of Athletics, Sport Psychology and Counseling. He is a licensed clinical mental health counselor, providing sport/performance psychology and mental health services to UVM student-athletes. After two years as the sport psychology consultant with the UVM men’s basketball program, he joined the department full-time in summer of 2017. He is entering his sixth year embedded with the UVM men’s basketball program and serves as the teams academic advisor as a member of the Student-Athlete Development team.

Ari meets individually with student-athletes, provides consultation for coaches, and also works with teams to offer integrated mental health and sport/performance psychology support. Additionally, he collaborates with Athletic Department staff members to provide consultation and mental health education.

Prior to coming to UVM as the director of basketball operations in 2011, Ari worked as an assistant men’s basketball coach at St. Michael’s College and director of basketball operations at Bryant University.

Ari earned an undergraduate degree in sport management at the University of Massachusetts–Amherst and a master’s in clinical psychology at St. Michael’s College.
