HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Colin Kessler opened the scoring for Vermont just 80 seconds into the first period. In the neutral zone a BC defender tried to chip the puck past Kessler on the forecheck, but he knocked it down and went in alone. Kessler faked a wrist shot and tucked a backhand past Louka Cloutier for his fourth goal of the season.
  • Ethan Burroughs doubled the Vermont lead with another transition goal at the 8:24 mark of the opening frame. Mateo Michels forced a BC turnover at their blueline and then he passed out to Burroughs on the wing. Ethan labeled a shot just under the crossbar in the far corner to make it 2-0 with his third goal of the season.
  • A strong BC push came late in the first period. Aiden Wright made nine stops on a single BC power play to keep the contest at 2-0 through the opening 20 minutes.
  • The Eagles cut the lead to one with a power play tally 47 seconds into the second period. Lukas Gustafsson fired a wrist shot from the point and James Hagens redirected it from in front for his 15th goal of the year.
  • The Catamounts appeared to reestablish their two-goal edge minutes later. Caeden Herrington kicked the puck towards the net, and it appeared to glance off Daniel Sambuco's skate and past Cloutier. It was initially called a goal but after review it was disallowed.
  • Vermont couldn't be denied on a power play opportunity a few minutes later. Sebastian Törnqvist fired a perfectly placed wrist shot from the point that Cloutier never saw. Herrington and Thomas Sinclair earned assists on Törnqvist's fourth goal of the season that came with 6:20 to play in the middle frame.
  • The Catamounts stretched its lead to three with a Massimo Lombardi tally 2:27 into the third period. Jonah Aegerter pushed the play in transition and cut behind the BC net before feeding a pass to Lombardi. Lombardi was lost between two BC defenders in coverage and easily one-timed it home to make it 4-1 with his fifth goal of the season.
  • Matteo Michels scored shorthanded for Vermont 5:39 into the third period to make it 5-1. Kessler won a puck battle along the boards and quickly got the puck up to Michels who blew by the final BC defender. Michels went bar down for his third goal of the season, chasing Cloutier from the contest.
  • With 7:46 to play Burroughs collected his second goal of the game on the power play to close out the scoring. Philip Törnqvist one-timed a feed from Jack Malinski and BC's Jan Korec made the initial save but Burroughs was in front of the net and backhanded home the rebound for his fourth goal of the season.
