COACH'S QUOTE
"Not the result we were looking for but our competition this afternoon was the best we faced this season," said Head Coach
Rob Dow. "I was really happy with our team first effort but we should have earned a win in our trip to D.C. this weekend."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Big East preseason favorite Georgetown struck first in the 13th minute when Mitchell Baker capitalized on a loose rebound off an initial shot by Zach Zengue from inside the box. Niklas Herceg made the first stop on Zengue but wasn't able to deny Baker his first goal of the season. It was the first time UVM had trailed in a match this season.
- Both teams tallied one more shot on net before halftime, as the Hoyas maintained the 1-0 advantage after the opening 45 minutes of action.
- UVM Graduate student Marcos Blasco got the start in the second half, immediately providing a spark for the Catamount offense. Vermont spent the first five minutes of the second frame in complete control of possession, eyeing an equalizer goal against the Hoyas.
- Both teams were playing with a high level of physicality in the second half, making it hard to get any quality looks on net. Four Hoyas and two Catamounts received yellow cards as the physicality heightened.
- In the 86th minute of action, Pieter Bultman launched the ball out of UVM's defensive zone, placing it perfectly in front of Kissel to run into on the other side of the field. Kissel out muscled the Georgetown defender and used his right foot to tap the ball over the head of the Hoyas goalkeeper electing to pressure high out of his box, seeing the ball find the back of the net for his second goal of the season, knotting the score at 1-1 with less than five minutes to play.
- The Hoyas made one more push on the other end before the final buzzer rang, creating a prime scoring chance for Baker to secure a possible brace on the day, but Niklas Herceg shut the door, making a signature diving save to punch the ball away with his right fist, keeping Georgetown off the scoreboard and saving the 1-1 road draw.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Bultman recorded his first career assist on Monday, along with his first point on the 2025 campaign.
- Blasco played all 45 minutes in the second half for the Catamounts in his UVM debut.
