BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont (6-20-2, 5-14-2 HE) women's hockey gets set to play in a home-and-home series with #15 Boston College (17-10-1, 13-7-1 HE), traveling to Chestnut Hill, MA for a game on Thursday (Feb. 6) at Boston College before coming back to Burlington, Vt for a game at Gutterson Fieldhouse on Saturday (Feb. 8) night. Both Thursday and Saturday's puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Saturday's matchup will be the teams annual Rally Against Cancer game presented by Mascoma Bank. There will be a ceremonial puck drop pregame and Mascoma Bank will also be handing out Rally Towels for the first 250 fans in attendance. UVM Cancer Center will be handing out cow bells and other giveaway items in the lobby of Gutterson Field House

KOKAVEC RECOGNITION
- Ashley Kokavec was most recently named Hockey East Co-Defender of the week. Kokavec is the third Catamount this season to be named to this honor. Jane Gervais and Kyla Bent are the other two Catamounts.
- Kokavec notched the game-winning goal for Vermont in a 1-0 win at Northeastern. Her goal was also shorthanded, the first shorthanded goal for UVM on the season.
- Kokavec added seven shots on the weekend, adding to her 69 total shots on the season, good for second most among defensemen in Hockey East.
- Kokavec leads all UVM blueliners in points, tallying 11 points on four goals and seven assists, also good for the second most points on the team. Her 11th point scored vs Northeastern tied her career high for points in a single season.
VERMONT OUTLOOK
- Vermont comes off a weekend seeing the Catamounts defeat Northeastern 1-0 from Matthews Arena, their third win against a ranked opponent this season, before falling 4-1 to Boston University from Walter Brown Arena. UVM's other two ranked wins came against Boston University (3-2 win) on January 11, 2025, and St. Lawrence (1-0 win) on October 18, 2024.
- The Catamounts upcoming home-and-home series with Boston College will be the final two games in the season series with the Eagles. Boston College came out victorious in the first game 3-0 from Chestnut Hill, MA.
- Lara Beecher was the lone goal scorer for Vermont in the 4-1 loss at Boston University, scoring a shorthanded goal, earning Vermont back-to-back games scoring a shorthanded goal.
- UVM is one of five Hockey East school to record two shorthanded goals during conference play. Providence, New Hampshire, Boston University and Boston College are the other four schools.
- Vermont is the only Hockey East school to score a shorthanded goal in back-to-back games this season.
- Vermont is one of five Hockey East schools to have at least five defenders register at least one goal or more on the season. Kokavec, Bent, Natalie Zarcone, Hailey Eikos, and Josie Hemp all have notched at least one goal this season. New Hampshire, UConn, Holy Cross, and Merrimack are the other four Hockey East schools.
- UVM has been solid in the faceoff circle this season, ranking 15th in the Nation in faceoff win percentage with a 51.8% success rate, good for third in Hockey East. Evelyne Blais-Savoie is at the forefront of these wins for UVM, individually ranking eighth in the Nation and first in Hockey East with 340 total wins on the campaign.
- Vermont is one of two Hockey East school that has two centers in the conference in the top 10 for most faceoffs won this season. Blais-Savoie sits alone at the top with 340 while Rose-Marie Brochu is tied for 10th with 215 faceoff wins. New Hampshire is the other Hockey East school.
- UVM is one of five Hockey East schools to have two or more defenders with seven assists on the season so far, (Bent and Kokavec). Providence, UConn, Northeastern, and Boston University are the other four Hockey East schools.
- Vermont is one of five Hockey East schools to have two defenders with three or more goals, (Eikos and Kokavec). Northeastern, Providence, Boston College, and New Hampshire are the other four schools.
- Beecher and Blais-Savoie lead the team in goals, having five each.
- Beecher leads a team high 14 points on five goals and a team high nine assists. Beecher also leads the team in shots, totaling 88 so far this season.
- Beecher's 88 shots are the sixth most in the Hockey East conference this season.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- Boston College is 17-10-1 overall on the season and 13-7-1 in Hockey East play, currently sitting in fourth place in the conference.
- The Eagles are 2-3 in their last five games, most recently dropping back-to-back games on the road, only the second time this season Boston College has lost two consecutive games.
- Most recently, the Eagles fell 3-2 to Boston University and 5-3 to Merrimack.
- Boston College is one of two Hockey East schools to have three skaters with 22 points or more on the season. Providence is the other school.
- The Eagles are led by sophomore forward Sammy Taber who leads the team in points with 27 total on 10 goals and 17 assists, tied for second most points in the Hockey East Conference.
- The Catamounts are 8-52-6 all-time vs Boston College, with the most recent success coming during last season (November 11, 2023) when Vermont defeated the Eagles 3-2 from Gutterson Fieldhouse.
