COACH'S QUOTE
"This was a tough loss to take," said Associate Head Coach Kevin Dessart. "We didn't stick to our game plan, and against a team like BU, you need to stick to the plan to be successful."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston University found the opening goal 10:24 into the first period. Sydney Healey tallied her 10th of the season, giving the Terriers a 1-0 advantage.
- The Catamounts bounced back, scoring an equalizer goal while being shorthanded 5:10 into the middle frame, the second game in a row Vermont has scored shorthanded. Lara Beecher poke checked the puck away from the BU defender on the point, breaking free for a one-on-one chance with Callie Shanahan on the other end. Using a shifty forehand to backhand deke, Beecher moved Shanahan out of position just enough to bury a backhand shot in the net, securing her fifth goal of the season, knotting the score, 1-1.
- The Terriers answered on the powerplay 2:27 later, seeing Julia Shaunessy tally her second goal of the season, earning Boston University the 2-1 lead with 12:23 remaining in the second period.
- A five-minute boarding major on Vermont allowed for Boston University to double its lead 11:13 on the powerplay thanks to Lilli Welcke making it 3-1, scoring her fifth goal of the year.
- Beecher nearly notched her second goal of the game, breaking free for another breakaway after being released from the penalty box, but Shanahan got the better of the opportunity this time, maintaining the Terriers a two goal cushion.
- Boston University recorded an empty net goal as time expired, skating away with the 4-1 win on home ice against Vermont on Saturday night.
