PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Vermont (3-0) defeated Brown (0-2) 89-84 in double overtime on Sunday evening from the Pizzitola Sports Center behind a 40-point, 13 rebound performance by
TJ Long, marking a new career high in both categories for Long. With the win, the Catamounts improve to 3-0 on the season while Brown falls to 0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brown begun the game on a 6-0 scoring run before TJ Hurley put the Bears offensive spurge to a halt, making his first bucket of the game with 16:31 on the clock in the first half. The Bears led 6-2 before the first commercial timeout.
- The Bears orchestrated a 9-3 scoring run coming out of the first commercial timeout, seeing three different players cash a three-pointer, propelling Brown to a 15-5 lead with 11:50 remaining in the opening half.
- Hurley drilled his first three pointer of the game with 11:01 on the clock in the first half, but it was Brown who maintained the lead, heading into the third commercial timeout with a 20-10 advantage with 7:47 left in the half.
- For the remainder of the opening half, both teams went back-and-forth trading baskets with each other, seeing UVM narrowly edge Brown out with a 14-12 scoring run highlighted by six points from Long and three points from Hurley. At the half, Brown led Vermont 32-24.
- To open the second half, Brown got off to a 5-0 scoring run but Long scored back-to-back buckets for the Catamounts to tame the Bears surge. At the first commercial break of the second frame, Brown led 39-28.
- The Catamounts came out of the media timeout dialing up an 11-6 scoring run to cut the deficit to six, seeing Noah Barnett score four points while Ben Johnson drilled a three-pointer as the Bears led 45-39.
- With 10:42 on the clock in the second half, Long drilled a three-pointer after being fed by Johnson. On the next Catamount possession, David Simon executed on a layup to bring Vermont within three, 47-44.
- Long and Jackson Skipper took turns swishing three-pointers, gaining the lead with 8:49 to go in the second half.
- As the Catamounts started to gain momentum, Long made three straight three pointers, earning UVM a 61-51 advantage with 5:32 left in regulation.
- Brown bounced back, going on a 14-4 scoring run as time expired, forcing overtime. The game went to overtime with both teams knotted at 65-65.
- Barnett got the scoring started 37 seconds into overtime, making a layup for his third basket of the game, gaining the lead, 67-65.
- With a little less than four minutes remaining in overtime, Johnson and Adrian Uchidiuno took turns making three-pointers, knotting the score at 70-70.
- For the remainder of overtime, both teams battled back-and-forth, seeing Long score six points and Barnett score his fourth bucket of the game, but it was Jeremiah Jenkins who swished a three-pointer for Brown to take the lead with 25 seconds remaining.
- Vermont had just one chance tie the game with 0.6 seconds remaining, seeing Lucas Mari feed Hurley on an inbounds play, who wasted no time getting the ball up, banking his shot off the glass and through the hoop for his sixth basket of the game, ultimately sending the contest to double overtime.
- It was the TJ show in double overtime, seeing Long score five points and Hurley score four points to help propel the Catamounts to a 89-84 double OT road victory.

- Long had 40 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and three steals in Vermont's double overtime win against Brown. It marks a new career high in points and rebounds for Long. This is Long's first career double-double.
- Hurley scored a season high 18 points shooting 6-11 from the field and 2-3 from three-point range. Hurley also grabbed four rebounds and dished out one assist.
- Barnett had a season high 10 points to go along with six rebounds and one steal.
- Sean Blake tied a season high, recording five assists on Sunday.
- UVM outrebounded Brown 46-42.
