BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont (4-14-2, 3-8-2 WHEA) women's hockey team concludes the first Hockey East weekend of action in the new year traveling down to Storrs, CT for a single game with the No. 15 ranked UConn Huskies (12-8-1, 10-3-1 WHEA) from Toscano Family Ice Forum on Sunday (Jan. 5). Sunday's matchup will be the first meeting between the two programs this season. Puck drop is slated for 3 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and TSN+.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
- Vermont concluded the 2024 calendar year winning its lone game in December, defeating Merrimack 2-1 on the road. Hailey Eikos and Evelyne Blais-Savoie each tallied a goal for the Catamounts while Lara Beecher earned an assist on both goals. Jane Gervais anchored the Catamounts with a 23 save performance, earning her the Hockey East Defender of the Week honor.
- Sunday's game against UConn will be the first matchup of the season series between the two programs.
- Kaylee Lewis recorded her first goal of the season, 11th of her career, in Vermont's most recent game against Providence on Friday (Jan. 3).
- Maddy Skelton and Oona Havana each earned their first point of the season during the Catamounts most recent matchup, seeing both skaters record one assist. It was Havana's first career point in a Vermont uniform.
- Josie Hemp scored he first career goal against Providence on January 3 2025, being the fifth Catamount defender to score a goal so far this season.
- UVM has been solid in the faceoff circle this season, ranking 11th in the Nation in faceoff win percentage with a 52.8% success rate, good for third in Hockey East. Blais-Savoie is at the forefront of these wins for UVM, individually ranking eighth in the Nation and first in Hockey East with 241 total wins on the campaign.
- Beecher leads a team high 10 points on three goals and a team high seven assists. Beecher also leads the team in shots, totaling 61 so far this season.
- Blais-Savoie leads the team in goals, securing five on the campaign thus far to go along with two assists.
- Ashley Kokavec is tied for fifth in Hockey East for most points as a defender, notching nine points on three goals and six assists. Her nine points leads all UVM blue liners.
- Vermont is one of three Hockey East schools to have two blue-liners with three or more goals, (Eikos and Kokavec). Providence and New Hampshire are the other two schools.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- UConn is 12-8-1 overall on the season and 10-3-1 in Hockey East play.
- The Huskies are 3-1-1 in their last five games, outscoring opponents 12-10. The Huskies have secured three shutout wins this season while also being shutout in three separate losses.
- UConn posts a 5-4-0 home record while holding a 7-3-1 away record this season.
- This matchup will be the first home game UConn has played since November 23, 2024.
- The Huskies are led by first year forward Claire Murdoch who's posted a team high 16 points on seven goals and nine assists, tied for third most points in Hockey East so far this season.
- Three different UConn skaters have secured six or more goals, seeing Murdoch have seven while Ashley Allard, and Kyla Josifovic each tallied six goals on the campaign thus far.
- The Catamounts are 16-33-8 all-time vs UConn, most recently earning a 3-0 shutout victory over the Huskies from Gutterson Fieldhouse on February 17, 2024 during both programs final meeting last season.
