COACH'S QUOTE
"Another one-goal loss for us in a game that was there for the taking," said Head Coach
Jim Plumer. "There have been very few games this year that we haven't been right there with our opponent and tonight was no different. We were the better team for long stretched but couldn't find a way to finish it on the scoreboard. We are excited for the rematch tomorrow for our Pack the Gut game."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont opened scoring 4:19 into the first period, seeing Kyla Bent intercept a UConn attempt to clear its own zone, wasting no time firing the puck towards the net where Cecilia DesLauriers was there to redirect the puck to the top right corner, over the UConn goalie's blocker, scoring her second goal of the season to earn the Catamounts a 1-0 advantage.
- 3:19 into the middle frame, the Huskies bounced back, scoring an equalizer goal thanks to Emma Eryou rifling a snapshot from the top of the close circle, squeaking the puck through the small opening to knot the score, 1-1.
- Maddy Skelton responded just under three minutes later, scoring her first goal of the season on the powerplay for Vermont after receiving a pass from Ashley Kokavec, maneuvering her way to the slot where she ripped a wrist shot to the blocker high side, getting a fortunate bounce to regain the Catamount lead, 2-1. Natalie Zarcone was awarded the secondary assist.
- The Catamounts seemed to of doubled their lead with just 20 seconds remaining in the second period, again on the powerplay, seeing Skelton send the puck to the bottom corner where Evelyne Blais-Savoie was there to work the puck back up to Zarcone at the point. Zarcone then shot the puck on net and chaos erupted with a loose puck in front. Lara Beecher was there to bury it in the net, seemingly giving Vermont a 3-1 advantage. However, UConn challenged the goal for a goaltender interference and after further review, the goal was called off because UConn's goaltender was indeed interfered with before the puck crossed the goal line. The score remained 2-1 in favor of UVM.Â
- Just 2:10 into the final period, UConn scored another equalizer, seeing Ashley Allard score her seventh goal of the season knotting the score, 2-2.
- No goals were scored for the remainder of the third period as the game went to overtime, the Catamounts fifth time this season seeing an extra overtime period.
- Megan Woodworth netted the game-winning goal 1:52 into overtime after being left all alone streaking into the Vermont zone, sniping her shot to the short side to earn the Huskies the 3-2 overtime win from Gutterson Fieldhouse.
