MEN'S BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK
Vermont (23-6, 13-1 AE) will host UMass Lowell (20-7, 11-3 AE) with a chance to lock up the top seed in the 2024 Jersey Mike's America East Playoffs on Saturday (Mar. 2) at Patrick Gym. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET, instead of the originally scheduled 4:30 start. Saturday's game is Senior Day presented by MVP Health Care. Fan are encouraged to arrive early for the pregame ceremony.
BROADCAST INFORMATION
The matchup between the Catamounts and River Hawks will broadcast live on
ESPN+ with Rob Ryan and Bernie Cieplicki on the call. An international stream will also be available on
AmericaEast.TV. Fans can listen to the game for free on the Vermont Sports Network, from Learfield on The Game, which will air on 97.1 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 960 AM around the rest of the region. The radio broadcast is also available via the

The Catamounts will honor three seniors during the pregame Senior Day ceremony:

CLINCHING SCENARIOS
Vermont can clinch the America East Regular Season Title outright and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs with a win over UMass Lowell. UVM secured at least a share of its eighth-straight regular season title with its 65-48 win against Bryant. The title streak is the longest active streak in the country.

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
UMass Lowell locked up at least a No. 2 seed in the 2024 Jersey Mike's America East Playoffs when it defeated Bryant 89-67 on Thursday night. The River Hawks have won four straight games, including a pair of wins over the Bulldogs. Quinton Mincey leads UML in scoring during conference play, averaging 19.0 points per game. He ranks sixth in America East. Max Brooks is 10th in the league in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game. He leads the conference in field goal percentage (65.7%). The River Hawks have America East's top scoring offense, averaging 82.3 points per game in league play.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and UMass Lowell meet for the 23rd time in series history. The Catamounts own an 18-4 mark in the all-time series and has a 9-1 mark at Patrick Gym. UVM has won three straight games against UML, including the 2023 America East Championship Game. Earlier this year, Vermont earned a 72-65 overtime victory at UMass Lowell.
Shamir Bogues led all UVM scorers with 19 points.
Ileri Ayo-Faleye recorded his first career double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds) and tallied a career-high five blocks. He was later named America East Player of the Week.
THE 2023 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Vermont secured its 10th America East Championship, and second consecutive title, defeating UMass Lowell 72-59 at Patrick Gym last season. UVM rallied back from a 29-25 halftime deficit by grabbing the first four points of the second frame – the victory was Vermont's only win when trailing at the half last season.
Dylan Penn scored a game-high 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting and was named Most Outstanding Player.
Matt Veretto scored 15 points in the victory -- all coming in the second half.
MID-MAJOR POLLS
The Catamounts moved up to No. 13 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll – their highest ranking of the season. UVM was picked No. 11 in the Field of 68's Top 25 Cinderella Poll.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
UVM is 41-2 at Patrick Gym since the start of 2021-22, and 98-10 (.907) since 2016-17. Vermont has won 29 straight home games against America East schools -- its last loss came in the 2021 America East Playoffs.
