Men's Basketball Begins Mid-Atlantic Trip Thursday at NJIT

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Vermont (18-5, 8-0 AE) begins its two-game road trip through the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday (Feb. 8) when it visits NJIT (5-15, 1-7 AE) in Newark, N.J. The opening tip is set for 7 p.m. ET at NJIT's Wellness & Events Center. Tickets are available at njithighlanders.com.
 
BROADCAST INFORMATION
Thursday's game will broadcast live on ESPN+ with an international stream available via AmericaEast.TV. Fans can also listen to the game for free on the Vermont Sports Network, from Learfield on The Game, which will air on 97.1 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 960 AM around the rest of the region. The radio broadcast is also available via the Varsity Network App with Brian McLaughlin on the call.

CONFERENCE WINNING STREAK
Vermont owns the nation's longest conference winning streak, earning 23 straight victories in America East.
 
OVERALL WINNING STREAK
The Catamounts have the nation's fourth-longest active winning streak, with victories in nine straight games.
 
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT is currently No. 9 in the America East standings, earning its first conference win on Jan. 27, defeating UMBC 75-74 in Baltimore. Rookie standout Tariq Francis leads NJIT with 12.8 points per game. Four other Highlanders average double figures: Elijah Buchanan (11.4 ppg), Adam Hess (10.8 ppg), Mekhi Gray (10.4 ppg), and Kjell de Graaf (10.4 ppg). The Highlanders have been aggressive when crashing the glass, leading America East play with 13.8 offensive rebounds per game.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
UVM and NJIT meet for the 14th team in series history. The Cats are 12-1 in the all-time series and own a 4-0 mark in The Garden State. The conference foes meet for the second time this season with Vermont taking a 76-55 victory at Patrick Gym on Jan. 13. TJ Long led the Cats with 17 points in the win. Aaron Deloney had seven assists as the Catamounts combined for 20 assists – its most against a Division I opponent this season.
 
CHASING 300
Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach John Becker is two wins away from earning his 300th victory at Vermont. Becker will become the third coach in UVM Athletics history to register 300 wins at the University.
 
8-0 IN AE
The Catamounts are perfect through the first half of America East play. UVM is 8-0 to start league play for the sixth time in program history and fourth time under Becker.
 
MID-MAJOR POLL
Vermont earned the No. 14 ranking in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll for the second week in a row. The Cats were ranked No. 13 in the Field of 68's Cinderella Top 25 poll.
 
DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE
UVM boasts a league-best 59.6 scoring defense in America East play through eight games. Only three teams nationally have allowed fewer points per game in conference play this season.
 
PROTECTING THE BALL
Vermont has been one of the best teams in the country at taking care of the ball, ranking sixth in turnovers per game (9.0). The Cats have averaged a league-best 9.1 turnovers per game in America East play.
