PROVIDENCE, RI. – Vermont (3-8-1, 2-5-1 HEA) skated to a 1-1 tie with Providence (6-6-1, 3-5-1 HEA) on Friday afternoon from Schneider Arena.
Alaina Tanski scored the lone goal in regulation for Vermont while
Lara Beecher found the back of the net in the shootout, but the Catamount's efforts weren't enough to earn the additional Hockey East point, seeing the Friars win the shootout, 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Providence struck first at the 10:57 mark of the opening period, seeing Reichen Kirchmair bat the puck in the goal with her backhand after being left alone backdoor, earning the Friars the opening 1-0 advantage.
- The Catamounts pounced back, scoring an equalizing goal shortly after at the 11:47 mark of the frame, seeing Beecher feed Tanski with a breakout pass where she split the defense for a breakaway up the middle, sniping her shot bottom left, securing her second goal of the season, knotting the score, 1-1.
- Following a scoreless final two periods with stellar performances from both programs' goalies, the game went to overtime.
- Rose-Marie Brochu, Kaylee Lewis, and Ashley Kokavec all notched shots on net during overtime, but Hope Walinski stood tall, stopping everything sent her way in the extra five minutes of play as the game went to a shootout.
- Beecher came through in the shootout scoring five hole on Walinski for Vermont, but it wasn't enough as Audrey Knapp scored the game-winning goal for the Friars in the third round of the shootout to ice the game, earning Providence the extra conference point with the shootout victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Tanski secured her second goal of the season against Providence.
- Beecher added one assist on Friday, notching her team high eighth point of the season, fifth assist. Beecher tallied a team high seven shots, pinning three on goal.
- Grace Nelles and Kokavec each earend a team high four shots on net, a tied season high for Nelles.
- Anna Podein registered a game high four blocked shots.
- Jane Gervais returned in between the pipes, posting 22 total saves.

Vermont prepares to take the ice again tomorrow, closing out its two-game series with Providence. Puck drop is slated for 2 p.m. from Providence, RI at Schneider Arena. The matchup will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
