COACH'S QUOTE
"Tough outcome against a very good Clarkson team tonight," said Head Coach Jim Plumer. "I thought there were some positive takeaways, especially in the first and third periods. We certainly have to be better at the start and end of periods. I'm confident that we will be better tomorrow."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rebecca Morissette opened scoring for the Golden Knights 0:56 into the opening frame, sneaking her shot past the UVM goalkeeper for her second tuck of the season.
  • 6:36 into the first period, a Catamount defender was called for illegal hand on the puck in the goalie's crease, awarding Clarkson a penalty shot, taken by Sidney Fess who barely squeaked her shot under the arm of Vermont's keeper. Clarkson held a 2-0 advantage.
  • Vermont responded 21 seconds later when Lara Beecher fed Kyla Bent at the point, skating parallel with the top blue line, Bent ripped a backhand shot on net, finding the stick of Evelyne Blais-Savoie who tipped in her first goal of the season, 25th of her career to cut the lead in half, 2-1.
  • On their first power play of the season, the Catamounts knotted the game at 2-2 when Kaylee Lewis dished the puck off to Blais-Savoie, quickly sending it to Bent at the center of the point who took a few strides towards the middle and lased a shot over the glove of Clarkson's goalie, earning her first goal as a Vermont Catamount and her second point of the game.
  • Clarkson struck again 11:52 into the second period on the power play when Sene Catterall found the back of the net, regaining the Golden Knights a one goal lead, 3-2.
  • The Golden Knights broke through one more time before the end of the period, going up 4-2 with 1:17 remaining in the frame thanks to Rhea Hicks pinning her shot left side on the rush, earning Clarkson the two-goal cushion at the end of two periods.
  • Clarkson sealed the deal with two more third period goal, earning the 6-2 victory on Friday night.
