COACH'S QUOTE
"Tough outcome today in a game where we battled back twice and had a lot of momentum in the third period," said Head Coach Jim Plumer. "Hockey can be a fickle game as last night the pucks went in and today, we had a lot of possession and pressure but weren't able to capitalize. Credit to our special teams for a good day as it's an area we are working hard on. On to another big Hockey East weekend on the road at Maine next week."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • For the second night in a row, Chavonne Truter opened scoring, finding the back of the net 4:21 into the opening frame, scoring on the Wildcats' first shot of the game when she tucked the puck in the goal with her backhand on a two-on-one rush, earning UNH the 1-0 advantage.
  • The Catamounts tied the score 1-1, 8:26 into the second period, scoring on the powerplay against the top penalty kill in the country, seeing Josie Hemp go d-to-d with Natalie Zarcone on the blue line, rifling a one timer on net, finding Evelyne Blais-Savoie who buried the rebound shot for her second goal in just as many games, earning her fourth tally on the season.
  • Less than two minutes later, UNH responded, scoring 9:41 into the second frame when Shea Verrier cashed in on her first goal of the season, regaining the Wildcat lead, 2-1.
  • Vermont bounced back, scoring on the powerplay again when Kaylee Lewis laced a pass to the point finding Ashley Kokavec, where she rifled a shot on net with lots of traffic in front. Hailey Eikos was there to clean up the rebound opportunity, securing her first goal of the season, tying the score, 2-2, with 11:22 remaining in regulation. After no goals were scored for the remainder of the final period, the game went to overtime.
  • 73 seconds into the three-on-three overtime period, Boucher found the back of the net, deflecting an intial shot by Sadie Makokis who ripped a slapshot from the point, earning UNH the 3-2 overtime win from the Whittemore Center.
