COACH'S QUOTE
"Tonight was a tale of two halves," head coachÂ
Rob Dow said. "I thought we were better in the first half and Harvard was better in the second half. We'll look to improve our concentration, effort and execution over more minutes against Siena on Tuesday."
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts started the contest with consistent pressure on the Crimson. In the eighth minute Sebastian Gebhardt had UVM's first great chance of the evening. Gebhardt split two Harvard defenders and fired a rising shot that just sailed over the bar.
- In the 19th minute Vermont earned a penalty as Carter Johnson was taken down by a Harvard defender as the Crimson attempted to clear the ball after a set piece.
- Bazini stepped up to take the PK for the Catamounts. He would face Harvard's Nick Willen, who was making his first career start. Bazini did a stutter step and then delivered a perfect kick to the bottom right corner.
- Jack, making his sixth straight start for Vermont, made two first half saves and the Catamounts took the 1-0 lead into the half.
- With 25 minutes to play in the second half Harvard came within inches of equalizing. Crimson defender Nik White fired a shot off the woodwork that bounced around the goal line and fortuitously stayed out.
- With 12:52 to play the Crimson earned its own opportunity from the penalty spot. A foul by a Vermont defender was deemed by the official to have happened just inside the box.
- Willem Ebbinge went with a chip right down the middle to equalize with his first goal of the season.
- With 8:17 to play Jack came up with a game-saver for the Catamounts. Harvard broke in transition off a UVM set piece. On a three-on-three break with space the Crimson worked the ball over to Alessandro Arlotti and his one-touch shot was corralled with a diving kick save by Jack.
