Vermont will open the 2023 regular season on the road against Boston University on Thursday (Aug. 17). Kick off for the matchup is slated for 6 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

SEASON OPENERS
Entering her 13th season, the Catamounts are 6-5-1 in season openers under Head Coach
Kristi Huizenga. Last season Vermont defeated Sacred Heart on the road 2-0. Returning Junior
Kate Bossert scored a goal and recorded an assist. Graduate Student
Alyssa Oviedo also registered a goal in that victory. In the last six seasons, Vermont is 4-1-1 in season openers with their lone loss coming against UAlbany 2-0 in 2020.
ALL-CONFERENCE RETURNERS
Vermont returns two America East All-Conference members from their 2022 squad with
Sydney Remington and
Abbey Knobel. Remington was named to the America East All-Rookie Team finishing tied for first in the conference in assists (four) for first years (fourth overall) and second in goals (three) by a rookie (20th overall). Remington led the Catamounts in assists and finished tied for second in goals. Knobel played a significant role in midfield starting all 16 games and finishing with two assists while also maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade average to earn America East All-Academic Team honors.
NEW FACES IN CATAMOUNT COUNTRY
Vermont welcomes seven newcomers to their program for the 2023 season from four different states and Ontario, Canada. The Catamounts are bringing new faces to the defensive side of the ball with three central defenders, three midfielders and a goalkeeper in the 2023 class.

PRESEASON POLL
The Catamounts were selected to finish seventh in the America East Preseason Poll receiving a total of 21 points.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Last season Boston University finished third in the Patriot league with a 6-3-0 record in conference play and finished 11-8-1 overall. The Terriers fell in the Patriot League Semifinals, to eventual champion Bucknell, 4-3 on penalties. Boston University was selected to finish third in the Patriot League this season tying Bucknell with the most first place votes at seven and receiving 132 overall points. The Terriers return three members of the 2022 All-Patriot League Second Team headlined by 2022 Rookie of the Year Giulianna Gianino who started all 20 matches and finished with three goals which was tied for 14th in the conference. Boston University also returns junior Morgan Fagan who led the team in scoring with six goals and was second on the team with five assists. Her six goals were tied for second in the conference, her five assists were tied for fourth and her 17 total points were good for second. Both Fagan and Gianino were named to the 2023 Patriot League Preseason All-League Team along with senior Abby McNulty.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 18th matchup all time between Boston University and Vermont. The Catamounts are 2-13-2 in the series. The last matchup between the two came in 2012, when Boston was still a member of the America East, which ended in a 2-1 overtime loss at home. Vermont's last victory against Boston University came in 2004 with a 4-0 shutout at Centennial Field. The last time these two teams met in Boston, the Terriers came away with the victory 5-0 in 2011.
HOME OPENER
The Catamounts will host Merrimack in their home opener on Sunday, August 20 at 2 p.m. ET. For Sunday's contest all kids 12 and younger wearing their favorite jersey will receive free admission. Tickets can be purchased through
